Missouri State Approval for Colleges and Career Schools

The first step is submitting a detailed application to the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development.

The application must include the university’s mission statement, curriculum, faculty qualifications, and evidence of financial stability. An on-site evaluation, a pivotal moment in the Missouri higher education approval process, is conducted following the application to assess the physical facilities, resources, and academic environment.

After the initial review, the department may require additional documentation or modifications to meet specific educational or operational standards.

Who approves a new college or trade school in Missouri?

Missouri Proprietary School Certification is how the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) issues the certificate of approval to operate that private colleges and career schools need.
Certification comes before you advertise or enroll a student.
AEC doesn't issue Missouri approval and can't promise one. MDHEWD decides every Missouri certification.

AEC's founder, Dr. Ramin Golbaghi, went through these approvals as a school owner. He founded and led a private postsecondary school, he personally obtained state approval to operate, ACCSC institutional accreditation, Title IV certification, VA education benefits approval, WIOA/I-TRAIN workforce eligibility and SEVP certification.

Step 1: Register for Access to the EDvera System

  • Access the EDvera Login Page: Visit Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) EDvera.
  • New User Registration: Select “New User?” to set up your login credentials. You will need to provide the name and email address of the person completing the application, the proposed name of the school, and a brief description of the programs to be offered.
  • Receive Login Credentials: After you register, MDHE will email you login details, allowing you to access the EDvera system for your application.

Once you have your login credentials, you can begin the application process. This involves filling out several sections that require detailed information about your institution. You must enter data on your administrative structure, academic programs, faculty, and student support services. Accurate and comprehensive information is essential to facilitate a smooth review process.

Additionally, you will be asked to upload necessary documents such as academic catalogs, faculty resumes, and financial statements. These documents are crucial for verifying the information provided and ensuring compliance with educational standards.
